Apple has added touch to the MacBook Pro for the first time, and the new MacBook Pro with Proled XDR display was presented on 28 October 2026. It comes in 14 and 16 inch versions with M5 Pro or M5 Max chips, and sales start on 6 November. The headline feature is a tandem OLED screen with touch input, but the Nordic price list tells a more sober story.
What Apple is actually selling
The Proled XDR display stacks two OLED layers and reaches a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, with a stated contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1. The refresh rate adapts from 10 to 120 Hz, and the panel covers the P3 and Adobe RGB colour spaces.

Apple also quotes up to 24 hours of battery life, up to 128 GB of unified memory and up to 16 TB of storage. The 14 inch model weighs 1.38 kg and the 16 inch model 1.82 kg. The Dynamic Island also arrives on the Mac with macOS 27.
The same chips, a higher price
This is where a critical eye is needed. The M5 Pro and M5 Max chips are the same ones already sold in the MacBook Pro with the Liquid Retina XDR display, introduced in March. In other words, the extra money buys the screen, the touch layer and a lighter body, not more processing power.

Apple keeps selling the older models alongside the new ones, and the price gap is easy to measure.
In Denmark the 14 inch M5 Pro with touch starts at 25,999 DKK, against 22,999 DKK for the standard screen, which is roughly 3,000 DKK more. In Sweden the same model starts at 39,995 SEK, about 5,000 SEK above the standard version. In Norway it costs 38,990 NOK against 33,990 NOK, and the 5,000 NOK gap is the same on the 16 inch model. That works out at about 13 to 15 percent across the three markets.
| Market | 14 inch without touch | 14 inch with Proled XDR touch | Touch premium | Share | 16 inch with touch from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Denmark | 22,999 DKK | 25,999 DKK | +3,000 DKK | about 13% | 29,999 DKK |
| Sweden | about 35,000 SEK | 39,995 SEK | about +5,000 SEK | about 14% | 46,995 SEK |
| Norway | 33,990 NOK | 38,990 NOK | +5,000 NOK | about 15% | 44,990 NOK |
Is touch worth it on a laptop that already has a trackpad?
Apple says touch sits alongside the keyboard and trackpad, not in place of them, so it is an extra way of working rather than a new way of working. For photo editing, design and sketching it may well make sense, particularly with the colour accuracy of the new panel. For many other users it is a premium for a feature that macOS still has to prove itself with.
There is also a cheaper route inside Apple’s own range. The new 14 inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip starts at 17,999 DKK in Denmark, 8,000 DKK below the cheapest touch model, although it is a different chip and not a like for like comparison. For Nordic buyers the real question is simple: is touch worth roughly 3,000 DKK, or 5,000 SEK or NOK, to you? The power supply is not part of the answer, because it is sold separately in some markets.
