Skyworth is entering the electric van market with the Hongtu, a large commercial van that can be equipped with batteries of up to around 101 kWh and offers up to approximately 420 km of range.
Up to 15 cubic metres of cargo space
Skyworth may be best known for its electric passenger cars, but the Chinese manufacturer is also targeting the electric commercial vehicle market. The Skyworth Hongtu has been developed as a flexible electric van for professional users. According to Skyworth, the Hongtu focuses on cargo capacity, electric range and fast charging.
The European version is described as a fully electric van, with no diesel option.

One of the Hongtu’s key strengths is its space. Skyworth states that the van can offer up to around 15 cubic metres of cargo capacity, making it suitable for both distribution work and larger transport operations.
The van is available in different configurations, with body styles, wheelbases and cabin layouts varying depending on the version and market. This means the Hongtu is effectively a family of electric commercial vehicles rather than just one single configuration.
Large battery of more than 100 kWh
According to Skyworth’s European information, the Hongtu can be offered with 64, 88 or a 101 kWh battery. The official European information indicates an expected WLTP range of approximately 300-420 km, depending on configuration.
Chinese specifications also list versions with a battery of up to 100.9 kWh and up to 520 km of CLTC range. The CLTC figure is not directly comparable with WLTP and should therefore not be treated as a European range figure.

Motor outputs are around 100-150 kW, equivalent to approximately 136-204 hp, depending on the version. The Hongtu is developed with rear-wheel drive, while the drivetrain specification can vary according to version and market.
Skyworth also highlights DC fast charging, allowing the van to return to the road quickly between jobs. Chinese specifications list approximately 36 minutes for a 20-80% DC charging session on the relevant versions.
Set to compete with European electric vans
With the Hongtu, Skyworth is entering a market that already includes electric vans from manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Renault. The Hongtu stands out with its large body, electric drivetrain and the option of a battery of around 101 kWh.
Skyworth describes the model as suitable for professional logistics, urban driving and longer-distance transport.

In Scandinavia, Skyworth could potentially expand its presence in the commercial vehicle market with the Hongtu. The combination of a large cargo area, a battery of more than 100 kWh and electric power could make it an interesting option for professional users across the Scandinavian market.
