Microsoft has unveiled a major update for Copilot on Windows, its central hub for generative AI, bringing with it a redesigned interface and a reorganized set of features.

This isn’t just a cosmetic refresh: Copilot now aims to deliver a more intuitive and conversational experience, while also offering new ways to interact with documents, apps, and conversations.

A New Interface with a Friendlier Touch

The update, rolling out gradually starting with version 1.25082.132.0, introduces a completely new homepage design. Gone is the abstract violet background—Microsoft has replaced it with a lighter, more playful theme featuring floating daisies with a bokeh effect. The familiar text box for starting a conversation remains at the bottom, but what stands out are five new “modules” at the top of the screen.

These modules organize content and actions in a way that feels closer to the Start Menu but with a conversational twist. Instead of cold, functional labels like “Recent Files,” Microsoft uses more natural language, such as “Get back to working on your files.” It’s a subtle but clear attempt to make Copilot feel less like a tool and more like a digital partner.

The Five New Sections

  • Recent Files – Shows files you’ve been working on, similar to the Windows Start Menu. Copilot can analyze these documents to provide summaries, highlight important details, or even manipulate images. Only files that Copilot can process will appear here.
  • Copilot Pages – Saved conversations that can be reopened at any time. This section highlights the most recently accessed ones, making it easy to continue where you left off.
  • Apps – Lets users launch compatible apps directly from Copilot. With Copilot Vision, the AI can explain how an app works, guide you through tasks, or help automate actions. Apps open normally, but Copilot stays in the foreground, ready to assist.
  • Recent Conversations – A log of your latest chats with Copilot, most likely shown in strict chronological order.
  • Continue Talking with Copilot – Appears to overlap with recent conversations, but may instead surface dialogues you return to most often.

Although the update is officially live, Microsoft is rolling it out slowly, and not all devices linked to the same account may receive it at once. For now, only a limited number of users have access to the new interface, but wider availability is expected in the coming weeks.
