Apple appears set to close out a busy fall season with one more tranche of hardware announcements. After the iPhone 17 family, iPhone Air, AirPods Pro 3 and the latest Apple Watch models, the company is preparing to introduce the first devices powered by the new Apple Silicon M5 chip.

According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple could make the announcements as early as this week, opting for online releases rather than a traditional live event — a format the company has favoured recently, using pre-recorded videos and in-depth product clips on YouTube.

iPad Pro and Vision Pro refresh lead the pack

The initial wave will focus on the new iPad Pro models powered by the M5, which promise improved performance and energy efficiency. Alongside the iPad, Apple is reportedly readying an updated Vision Pro headset featuring a faster processor and a redesigned head strap aimed at better comfort and stability. Both devices are said to have entered mass production, suggesting the commercial debut is imminent.

These launches follow Apple’s strategy of spreading product updates across the year, especially for its premium and professional lines. Rather than concentrating major announcements in a single keynote, Apple aims to maintain market attention by progressively refreshing key product families — from tablets to Macs — and accelerating the transition to the M5 generation.

MacBook Pro (base M5) now expected, Pro/Max later

Gurman also reports that Apple is preparing a new MacBook Pro with the base M5 chip. More powerful configurations — the M5 Pro and M5 Max — are expected to arrive in early 2026 because production volumes for the higher-end chips won’t be sufficient until then. Retail signals back this timing: entry-level MacBook Pro units with M4 are reportedly dwindling in stock, while M4 Pro and M4 Max models remain widely available.
