Sony has officially announced the Sony Xperia 10 VII, the latest iteration of its Xperia 10 series. The new model brings a refreshed design, a lighter chassis, and a host of hardware and software upgrades, including a dedicated camera button, a 5000 mAh battery, a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate, redesigned front speakers, and support for Google’s AI-powered features such as Circle to Search and Gemini.

Design, Materials, and Sustainability Initiatives

Xperia 10 VII sports a redesigned body measuring 153 x 72 x 8.3 mm and weighing just 168 grams, making it lighter and more ergonomic than its predecessor. Thinner bezels and a reconfigured rear camera module create a more harmonious look. The matte rear finish, combined with a smooth tactile coating, reduces fingerprints and wear while giving the device a premium feel.

Sony continues its focus on environmental responsibility, incorporating eco-friendly materials in the device. Approximately 77% of certain components are made from recycled and plant-based resins, including Sony’s proprietary SORPLAS plastic. Packaging eliminates single-use plastics, reflecting the brand’s commitment to sustainability.

Camera and Dedicated Shutter Button

One of the most notable additions is the physical camera button—a hallmark of the Xperia series. A short press launches the camera app, while a long press, even from a locked screen, instantly opens the shooting mode, enabling fast capture of spontaneous moments.

The rear camera setup combines two sensors covering three focal lengths. The primary 50 MP Exmor RS sensor (f/1.9, 1/1.56”) delivers better low-light performance and color depth. It is paired with a 13 MP ultra-wide sensor (f/2.4, 1/3”, 16 mm, 123° field of view), offering 16 mm, 24 mm, and 48 mm shooting options for ultra-wide, standard, and zoomed shots. Software features include HDR, burst shooting up to 10 fps with continuous AF/AE up to 30 times per second, 6x AI Super Resolution zoom, QR code recognition, panorama mode, bokeh, and night mode. Hybrid stabilization (OIS + EIS) minimizes shake in photos and videos.

The front camera is an 8 MP sensor (f/2.0, 26 mm, 1/4”) with HDR, night mode, SteadyShot, flash via display, and gesture-based shutter. Video recording supports MP4 format with Optical SteadyShot for smooth handheld footage.

Display, Audio, and Connectivity

Xperia 10 VII features a 6.1-inch FHD+ OLED display (1080 x 2340 pixels, 19.5:9) with 120 Hz refresh rate and 120 Hz touch scanning rate. The panel covers 100% DCI-P3 and uses Triluminos and Video Image Optimization for enhanced color reproduction. Supported media formats include AV1, VP8, VP9, HEVC, and professional image formats such as HEIF, DNG, and RAW. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2.

Audio performance benefits from redesigned front stereo speakers that reduce cabinet vibrations and enhance low and mid-range frequencies. The device includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack, Hi-Res Audio certification, support for LDAC, Qualcomm aptX Adaptive, and 360 Reality Audio. Features like 360 Reality Audio Upmix and DSEE Ultimate improve audio from stereo and compressed tracks, supporting formats from FLAC to MP3, Opus, and PCM.

Connectivity options include 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and multiband GPS compatible with A-GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and QZSS. Bluetooth transmission power has been doubled with automatic AAC quality adjustment to maintain stability in crowded areas. The USB-C port supports USB 2.0 Hi-Speed and USB Power Delivery for fast charging.

Battery, Performance, and Software Support

Powered by a 5000 mAh battery, Xperia 10 VII is rated for up to two days of use on a single charge. Battery management includes Xperia Adaptive Charging, Battery Care, and STAMINA mode to optimize longevity and reduce background consumption. Fast charging via USB PD is supported, while standby and network power consumption is reported between 0.5 W and 7 W depending on usage.

Performance comes from the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 octa-core processor, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS storage, expandable via microSDXC up to 2 TB—a rare feature in mid-to-high-range smartphones.

Xperia 10 VII runs Android 15 and will receive up to four major OS updates, along with six years of security patches, offering extended software longevity compared to previous Xperia 10 models.

Accessories and Environmental Commitment

Sony offers the Style Cover XQZ-CBFE in three gradient colors to match the phone, designed for durability and customizability. The transparent sections allow users to personalize with stickers or photos.

Sustainability remains a core philosophy, with packaging free of individual-use plastics and components made from recycled and plant-based materials, furthering Sony’s environmental goals.
