Rolls-Royce Spectre marked a historic turning point for the British luxury brand, becoming its first fully electric production model. Although Rolls-Royce has never disclosed a precise product roadmap, it has long been clear that Spectre would not remain a one-off. Now, the brand’s second electric vehicle appears closer than ever, after a camouflaged prototype was spotted for the first time during winter testing in Northern Europe.
A New Electric SUV on the Horizon
The prototype was photographed near the BMW Group’s Arctic test center in Arjeplog, Sweden, a location traditionally used to validate vehicles under extreme cold-weather conditions. Despite the heavy camouflage, the overall silhouette leaves little room for doubt: Rolls-Royce’s next electric model will be an SUV.
Proportions suggest a vehicle very close in size and stance to the Cullinan, Rolls-Royce’s first and currently best-selling SUV. This has fueled speculation that the upcoming electric SUV could eventually replace the Cullinan, or at least serve as its electric counterpart. Such a move would be significant, as transitioning the brand’s most popular model to an exclusively electric format would involve both strategic ambition and commercial risk.
Possible Debut at Goodwood or Pebble Beach
According to industry expectations, the new electric SUV could be unveiled as early as summer 2026. Two likely stages stand out: the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July or the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in August. Both events align perfectly with Rolls-Royce’s positioning, blending performance heritage with ultra-luxury appeal.
Design Cues from the Spy Photos
While the camouflage hides most details, the spy shots reveal some interesting elements. At the front, the SUV appears to feature split headlights, a design solution that would align it with recent Rolls-Royce styling themes while giving the model a distinctive light signature. At the rear, vertical taillight elements can be seen, reinforcing the vehicle’s upright and imposing presence.
No images of the interior have surfaced yet, but expectations are clear. The cabin will almost certainly reflect traditional Rolls-Royce values: uncompromising luxury, bespoke materials, and obsessive attention to detail, combined with the latest digital and comfort technologies.
Platform and Technology Expectations
It is still too early for confirmed technical specifications, but the new electric SUV is widely expected to be based on the same Architecture of Luxury platform used by the Spectre. This aluminum-based structure was designed from the outset to support full electrification and should allow Rolls-Royce to integrate the latest electric powertrain innovations developed within the BMW Group.
As testing continues and the reveal approaches, Rolls-Royce is likely to begin sharing official details about performance, range, and positioning within the lineup. For now, the message is clear: the brand’s electric future is accelerating, and its next chapter will be written in the form of a large, ultra-luxury electric SUV.
