While Volkswagen promises that its iconic GTI badge will soon grace an EV, Peugeot has already stormed past in the fast lane. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France, the French brand has just unveiled the Peugeot e-208 GTI – its first-ever electric GTI.
A performance-oriented Peugeot aimed squarely at the Mini Cooper SE, Abarth 500e, and the Alpine A290 (read our review here).
280 hp and 0–100 km/h in 5.7 seconds
The new E-208 GTI is based on Stellantis’ e-CMP platform, the same one used for the Abarth 600e and Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce. That also means it shares the same electric powertrain, delivering 280 hp and 345 Nm, making it the most powerful GTI in Peugeot’s history.

It rockets from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds, outpacing both the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce, Abarth 600e, and even the Mini Cooper JCW Electric, which clocks in at 5.9 seconds. All in all, this is the wildest hot hatch ever to wear a Peugeot badge. Design-wise, Peugeot draws a clear line back to the legendary 205 GTI, with retro-inspired touches like 18″ wheels, a red GTI badge, and a wider, lower stance thanks to a 30 mm lowered suspension and increased track width.

The battery pack is 54 kWh, offering a range of up to 350 km. Peugeot also includes Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) as standard, along with faster AC charging and DC fast charging from 20 to 80% in under 30 minutes.
An ’80s Throwback Cabin Inside
The GTI tribute continues with red seatbelts, ambient lighting, and sport seats with red stripes and stitching that instantly evoke memories of the iconic 205 GTI. But it’s not just about retro charm – the E-208 GTI gets serious technical upgrades too: four-piston brake calipers, 355 mm discs, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, upgraded springs and dampers, and a new rear stabilizer bar. The steering has also been retuned for more dynamic, sporty handling.
We expect the new E-208 GTI to hit Danish roads sometime next year, and it’s sure to breathe new life into the market for small, fun EVs. We can’t wait to see it out in the wild!
