Nissan reinvents one of its most iconic models. The all-new Nissan Micra marks a radical shift in both design and technology. Gone are the traditional petrol engines and the conservative look  in their place is a fully electric vehicle, much like its sister model, the Renault 5 E-Tech (our test drive here)

A New Era for the Micra with up to 400 km of Range

For the first time in its 42-year history, the Micra will be offered exclusively as an electric vehicle. The new generation shares its technology with the Renault 5, but Nissan has given the Micra its very own design identity.

This move is part of Nissan’s major electric push in Europe, where the brand has struggled with declining sales and now plans a comeback with four new electric models by the end of 2026. In addition to the Micra, this includes a new electric Leaf, an electric version of the Juke, and a microcar that will share its platform with the upcoming Renault Twingo.

The new Micra is built on the AmpR Small platform and will be available with either a 40 kWh or 52 kWh battery. This results in a range of 310 km and 407 km (WLTP) respectively. Charging is possible at up to 100 kW DC, meaning the battery can charge from 15–80% in around 30 minutes. The motor is mounted at the front and drives the front wheels. It produces 121 hp with the smaller battery and 148 hp with the larger one.

Specifications: Nissan Micra (2026)

Battery Pack Capacity Power Output Range (WLTP) Charging (DC Fast)
Standard Range 40 kWh 121 hp 310 km Up to 100 kW (15–80% in 30 minutes)
Extended Range 52 kWh 148 hp 407 km Up to 100 kW (15–80% in 30 minutes)

A Modern Cabin with Google Integration

Inside, the cabin resembles that of the Renault 5, with two 10.25” screens, intuitive menus, and sharp, colorful graphics. The digital driver’s display is customizable and shows everything from navigation to active safety features and battery consumption.

The Micra will offer full Google Automotive Services integration, like the Qashqai and other electric Renault models. This allows you to sign in with your Google account, access saved addresses and favorites, and easily search for charging stations directly from the screen.

According to us at NordiskBil, it’s one of the best navigation systems available today. The luggage compartment offers 326 liters of space — average for the class — and expands to 1,106 liters with the rear seats folded down. There’s also room under the floor for charging cables.

We Predict a Similar Price to the Renault 5

The new Micra has been developed to break free from its “granny car” image, especially in markets like the UK where it was previously seen as a favorite among retirees. According to Nissan, the goal is to appeal to younger buyers and modern parents with a gender-neutral, urban design.

We’re confident the new MICRA will be a success in Denmark, just like the old one. We’re also looking forward to getting behind the wheel. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but we expect it to start at around the same level as the Renault 5, approximately DKK 180,000. Yes, please!
