Polestar has introduced an SUV version of the Polestar 4, giving its performance focused electric model more cargo space and everyday versatility while keeping the design, technology, and driving character of the original coupe.
The Polestar 4 SUV sits in the compact premium SUV segment and pairs the refined performance of the recently updated Polestar 4 coupe with greater practicality, bringing the brand’s performance focus to a new group of buyers. Production has started in Busan, South Korea, with the first customer deliveries now underway.
Design carries over from the coupe with a reworked rear
The Polestar 4 SUV keeps the award winning exterior design of the coupe, including its sleek body and the dual LED lights and illuminated Polestar logo at the front. To boost cargo capacity and give the car a stronger SUV character, the rear end has been reshaped with a straighter roofline and a more upright tailgate. Full length roof rails raise the dynamic roof load capacity to 100 kg. Just 48 new parts were developed specifically for the SUV, a sign of how adaptable the original design proved to be.
Inside, the SUV follows the same minimalist, tech focused approach as the coupe. Ambient lighting inspired by the solar system lets passengers choose from a set of cosmic themes, paired with Star Knit trim for a distinctive cabin feel. The layout centres on a familiar horizontal main display and driver display, and the number of shortcut widgets on the main screen has grown from six to nine, alongside a wider set of available shortcut functions. An optional Harman Kardon Premium Sound system with 12 speakers and a 1,400 watt amplifier has been tuned specifically for the SUV.
Interior materials focus on sustainability and traceability. The standard bio attributed MicroTech upholstery uses a backing made from 100 percent recycled PET with a PVC surface containing 53 percent bio attributed material. An optional Tailored Knit fabric is made from 89 percent recycled PET and 3D knitted to reduce production waste, while optional Bridge of Weir Nappa leather is a chrome free byproduct of the food industry, fully traceable and produced to strict animal welfare standards.
A rear window opens up visibility toward the tailgate, and the car comes standard with a conventional rearview mirror. Buyers who want a wider field of view even with a full load can opt for the digital rearview mirror first introduced on the coupe. The SUV’s more upright rear section adds 2.5 cm of headroom in the second row, and a larger panoramic glass roof with a standard black tinted Polestar logo adds to the sense of space, extending back to the tailgate. Beyond the standard roof’s 99.5 percent UV protection, an optional electrochromic glass roof, unique to the SUV, reduces glare and reflections through an electrically dimmable laminated layer, with light control handled from the main display across fully transparent, fully tinted, or selectively shaded settings.
Total flexible storage capacity reaches 1,680 litres across the front and rear cargo areas. The rear offers 530 litres up to the seat backs and 655 litres up to the roof lining, expanding to 1,665 litres with the 60/40 split rear seats folded for larger items.
Two drivetrain options with up to 630 km of range
The Polestar 4 SUV is built on the same SEA platform as the coupe and is offered with two drivetrains. The dual motor, all wheel drive version delivers 400 kW (544 hp) and 686 Nm of torque, reaching 100 km/h from a standstill in 3.9 seconds with a WLTP range of up to 600 km. The rear motor version combines 200 kW (272 hp) and 343 Nm with a WLTP range of up to 630 km and a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.
A 100 kWh battery is standard across the range, supporting DC charging up to 200 kW and AC charging up to 22 kW in selected markets.
Chassis tuning mirrors the recently updated coupe, balancing comfort on daily drives and long trips with the responsive handling, precise steering, and engagement Polestar drivers expect. Buyers after the sharpest driving experience can add the Performance package, which brings recalibrated active dampers from ZF, high performance Brembo brakes with Swedish Gold calipers, and new 22 inch wheels fitted with Pirelli P Zero tyres. Polestar’s head of vehicle dynamics, Joakim Rydholm, says the SUV builds on the dynamic foundation of the recently sharpened coupe, with refined chassis balance and steering response delivering the confidence and precision Polestar customers expect in all conditions.
The two drivetrains are visually distinguished inside the cabin through seatbelt and rotary control colouring. The rear motor version uses an all black theme, the dual motor version adds a gold stripe to the seatbelts and rotary control, and cars with the Performance package go fully Swedish Gold on both.
Vehicle to load and a new camping mode
Vehicle-to-Load will become available across the Polestar 4 range, allowing the high voltage battery to supply alternating current to external devices such as camping equipment, power tools, and everyday electronics. The system delivers up to 3.3 kW at 16 amps on a single phase 230V connection through a certified charging adapter, sold separately through Polestar’s Extras web shop. Power can be drawn until the battery reaches a minimum level set by the driver in the centre display settings.
A new camping mode turns the parked SUV into a climate controlled space at the tap of the screen, giving access to entertainment, ambient lighting, and car functions from both the front and rear displays. The mode draws on V2L power delivery along with the USB-C ports and 12 volt outlet, aimed at comfort whether the car is used for a trip outdoors or more flexibly in everyday life.
Google Gemini replaces the voice assistant
Google Gemini brings more natural voice interaction to the cabin, replacing traditional command based voice control with an AI model that understands context, follows multi step conversations, and helps the driver complete more complex tasks using everyday language. Beyond car related questions, Gemini also offers hands free productivity features through Gemini Live, including brainstorming, trip planning, and real time translation. Gemini is now available across all Polestar markets as a seamless upgrade from Google Assistant.
A lower carbon footprint across the range
Low carbon and recycled materials used throughout the car give the Polestar 4 SUV one of the lowest carbon footprints in Polestar’s lineup, with a cradle to gate footprint of 21.1 tCO2e for the dual motor version and 20.2 tCO2e for the rear motor version. The reductions come mainly from the battery and aluminium supply chains, including 100 percent renewable electricity used in battery cell production and aluminium from renewable powered smelters, which makes up 34 percent of the car’s total aluminium content, of which 23 percent is recycled.
Pricing starts at 634,000 kronor
The Polestar 4 SUV starts at 634,000 SEK for the Rear motor version and 664,000 SEK for the Dual motor version, with the Performance package version starting from 764,000 SEK. All cars are built in Busan, South Korea, where production began in the second quarter of 2026, with first customer deliveries planned for the fourth quarter of the year.
