The new Audi RS 5 is Audi Sport’s first high-performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Designed to blend unmistakable RS DNA with advanced electrification, the new RS 5 delivers a remarkably wide spectrum of capabilities — from refined electric cruising in the city to relentless performance on demanding roads.
At the core of this transformation lies a sophisticated hybrid powertrain that pairs a highly tuned 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 producing 375 kW (510 hp) with a 130 kW electric motor. Together, they create a system engineered to balance raw performance with efficiency, offering both exhilarating speed and enhanced everyday usability.
Advanced Hybrid technology meets true RS dynamics
For the first time in an RS production model, the new RS 5 features a modular electrified quattro drivetrain with Dynamic Torque Control. This innovative setup introduces the world’s first electro-mechanical torque vectoring system in a production car, allowing precise distribution of torque between the rear wheels in milliseconds.

A new center differential with preload ensures continuous partial locking for optimal longitudinal torque distribution, while a newly developed rear differential manages transverse torque with exceptional speed and precision. The control system recalculates torque allocation every five milliseconds, delivering extraordinary agility, stability, and driver confidence.
The hybrid system integrates:
- A refined 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6
- A 130 kW electric motor
- A hybridized eight-speed transmission
- A new rear transaxle with electro-mechanical torque vectoring
This architecture allows the RS 5 to seamlessly transition from silent electric driving to full RS performance, depending on the driving scenario.
Precision Engineering for Maximum Control
The driving character of the new RS 5 is defined by the close integration of chassis and suspension technologies. RS-specific front and rear axles, RS-tuned steering, and the latest RS sport suspension with twin-valve shock absorbers deliver both comfort and razor-sharp handling.
The twin-valve damper system allows independent control of compression and rebound, significantly reducing body roll and pitch while ensuring rapid adaptation to road conditions. Large 20- and 21-inch wheels with specially developed tires, combined with powerful steel or optional ceramic brakes, further enhance precision and stopping performance.
Bold Design with Motorsport Influence
Visually, the new RS 5 emphasizes its performance credentials with a wider stance — approximately nine centimeters broader than the standard A5. Flared fenders, a three-dimensional Singleframe grille with honeycomb pattern, and functional Air Curtains define the aggressive front end.

At the rear, a sculpted aerodynamic diffuser and matte oval tailpipes from the RS sport exhaust system underline its sporty character. Darkened Matrix LED headlights with a checkered-flag daytime running light signature reinforce the car’s motorsport identity both day and night.
Audi Sport Package: Elevated Performance and Exclusivity
Available for both the Sedan and Avant, the optional Audi Sport package enhances the RS 5’s performance and visual appeal. It includes unique front and rear bumpers, two-tone diamond-cut 21-inch wheels in phantom black, and an RS sport exhaust system. The package also raises the top speed to 285 km/h.

Inside, exclusive details such as Serpentine green and brass contrast stitching appear for the first time, alongside extensive customization options including Bedford green metallic paint, RS ceramic brakes with bronze calipers, and distinctive carbon camouflage accents.
Intelligent Performance Monitoring
The new Audi driving experience system comes as standard, allowing drivers to analyze routes, performance data, and sector times directly on the 14.5-inch MMI touch display. When using RS Torque Rear mode, the system can even display advanced metrics such as drift angle, bringing a motorsport-inspired dimension to everyday driving.
Availability and Production
The new RS 5 models are produced in Neckarsulm, Germany. In the German market, the RS 5 Sedan starts at €106,200, while the RS 5 Avant begins at €107,850. Order books for Europe open in the first quarter of 2026, with first customer deliveries scheduled for summer 2026.
