We knew it would happen that Renault would offer Mitsubishi some of their electric vehicles, just as they had previously done with petrol models. The Renault Scenic is the first to sport a Mitsubishi logo on the front, while a smaller Renault 5 will also carry the iconic Colt name on its badge: we’re taliking about the new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross EV.

An Electric Era for Mitsubishi in Sight

This marks a new era for the Japanese brand, with a slew of electric vehicles on the way. Previously, the Eclipse name was reserved for their sports cars, but a shift occurred around 2018 when they introduced the Eclipse Cross, a crossover in the style of the Nissan Qashqai. That model never achieved the success Mitsubishi had hoped for.

Now, they’re trying again with the launch of the Eclipse Cross EV, a fully electric crossover that marks the end of the previous model and sets a new direction for the brand in Europe.

This second-generation Eclipse Cross was developed in collaboration with Renault and is built on the platform of the Renault Scenic E-Tech. However, it has its own distinct design.

Platform and Performance

The Eclipse Cross EV is built on the Ampr Medium architecture, previously known as Renault’s CMF-EV platform, which is also used in the Renault Megane E-Tech and Nissan Ariya.

Mitsubishi hasn’t mentioned anything about range, but the sister model achieves 420 km with the 60 kWh battery and over 625 km with the larger one.

Google-Based System as Standard

Inside the cabin, it’s as if it’s straight out of a Renault, which is to be expected. You’ll find the same interior with a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a 12-inch touchscreen running Google’s built-in services—something we’re huge fans of!

The trunk offers 545 liters of cargo space.
