Smartphones and smartwatches aren’t the only things Huawei has been busy launching lately. The company has also just revealed a new laptop, running on HarmonyOS as always. It’s called the MateBook Pro S, and while it clearly sits in the premium bracket, what really stands out is just how portable it is: at 798 grams and a maximum thickness of just 11.9 mm, Huawei is calling it the lightest 14 inch HarmonyOS laptop ever made. Looking at the wider market, it’s a fair bet this claim holds up against rival 14 inch laptops from other manufacturers too, not just Huawei’s own lineup.
Huawei MateBook Pro S specs: magnesium lithium and a flexible OLED
Getting the weight down that far took a magnesium lithium alloy chassis, along with an assist from the processor itself. The Kirin chip uses an ARM architecture, similar in spirit to Apple Silicon, which allows for a smaller footprint and lets Huawei get away with a more compact cooling setup than a comparable x86 laptop would need.
The display is just as much of a highlight as the weight. It’s a 14.2 inch flexible OLED panel running at 3120 x 2080 resolution with up to 120 Hz refresh rate, supporting the P3 colour gamut and a claimed peak brightness of 1,600 nits, all on a touch enabled panel. There’s also a hardware level privacy display feature, which can be switched on using a dedicated physical key on the keyboard.
Kirin XE90 brings a 23 percent single core boost
Under the hood sits a Kirin XE90 chip. Huawei claims single core performance improves by 23 percent over the previous Kirin X90, alongside better power efficiency at the same time. The NPU handling AI workloads has been upgraded considerably too. To keep performance steady over longer stretches of use, Huawei developed a new dual fan cooling system built around graphene based thermal materials. The 54 Wh battery supports 66W USB-C fast charging and is rated for more than 18 hours of Full HD video playback.

Pricing and availability
The Huawei MateBook Pro S is already on sale in China, starting from 7,999 RMB, roughly 7,650 DKK at current exchange rates, for the base configuration with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The lineup extends up to an exclusive Collector’s Edition priced at 14,999 RMB, around 14,350 DKK, available in Dawn Yellow, Summer Purple, Velvet White, Smoky Grey and Feather Black finishes.
As with many of Huawei’s most interesting recent launches, availability so far is limited to the Chinese market, so these DKK figures are an approximate currency conversion rather than confirmed Danish pricing. Whether, or when, the MateBook Pro S makes its way to Denmark or other European markets has not yet been announced.
