Genesis has entered the Hypercar class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, marking one of the most significant milestones in the Korean luxury brand’s short but rapidly evolving history. The GMR-001 Hypercar, competing under the Genesis Magma Racing banner, took to the Circuit de la Sarthe on 13 and 14 June, with the primary goal of completing the full 24-hour distance while targeting a competitive result.

The Le Mans entry did not arrive without preparation. Genesis Magma Racing opened its FIA World Endurance Championship season with a points finish at the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, its second round of competition, demonstrating consistent race management and operational reliability from the outset.

Two concepts trace the road ahead

Alongside the racing programme, Genesis used a press conference at the Circuit de la Sarthe to present two high-performance concept vehicles that map out the brand’s long-term direction.

The Magma GT Concept, first shown in November 2025, returned at Le Mans with an entirely redesigned interior. Conceived as a two-seat luxury grand tourer, it combines the brand’s Athletic Elegance design language with a mid-engine layout, muscular wheel arches and sculpted surfaces shaped by aerodynamic function. Inside, a driver-focused dual-cockpit configuration features analogue instrumentation drawing on motorsport chronograph aesthetics, complemented by high-precision tactile controls.

Making its world premiere was the Magma GT3 Concept, a study developed independently from any existing production model and engineered in full compliance with GT3 technical regulations. Developed in collaboration with Hyundai Motorsport, the concept explores how racing-grade aerodynamic principles and structural solutions might inform future Genesis road cars. Wide tracks, a pronounced front splitter, enlarged ventilation channels and an aerodynamic fin integrated into the doors are paired with a fixed rear wing and diffuser designed for thermal and downforce management over long-distance competition. The GT3 project signals Genesis’s interest in opportunities beyond the LMDh category, with components and future development paths currently under evaluation.

Together, the two concepts present a coherent strategy in which motorsport serves as a development laboratory for both design and technology.

X Gran Convertible on parade

Two updated versions of the X Gran Convertible Concept, originally unveiled at the Seoul Mobility Show 2025, participated in the Le Mans driver parade through the city centre. Both feature styling elements from the Magma programme and explore an emotionally expressive interpretation of Genesis luxury.

One, finished in Liquid Titanium, wears a livery referencing the Genesis Magma Racing colour palette. The other, in Midnight Teal, takes a quieter approach with sophisticated tones and tartan fabric interior trim. Both were driven by brand ambassador and sporting consultant Jacky Ickx alongside reserve driver Jamie Chadwick.

European network expands in step with racing ambitions

The Le Mans campaign runs in parallel with a broader European commercial push. Genesis is currently active in Italy, France, the Netherlands and Spain, with Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Poland and Portugal identified as next-stage markets.
