“There’s currently, let’s say, a multiplication of SUVs. This rapid growth will inevitably lead to market saturation,” says Luc Donckerwolke, Head of Design at Genesis. It’s a sentiment we’ve been hearing for years—yet SUVs have continued to dominate. But perhaps the appetite for raised, bulky vehicles is finally waning, or maybe it’s just a perception. Either way, Genesis is now exploring designs beyond the SUV realm, with the introduction of the Genesis G90 Wingback Concept.
This large station wagon concept is based on the G90 sedan, though its production future remains uncertain.

Family Elegance with a Sporty Edge
“This is the moment when other types of cars can become attractive again,” Donckerwolke explained while presenting the G90 Wingback Concept. And the car’s lines certainly make a statement.

Despite its 5.1-meter length and 3.2-meter wheelbase, the Wingback appears sleek and light, featuring a low, straight roofline, 22-inch wheels, refined aerodynamics, and a distinctive dual rear spoiler.

Yet one detail stands out immediately: the twin exhausts at the rear. They hint that beneath the hood there’s more than just electric cables or a small trunk—there’s a combustion engine. Genesis hasn’t revealed the specifics regarding the engine, power, or performance. What is clear, however, is that this is no ordinary wagon. The G90 Wingback Concept belongs to the Magma sub-brand, dedicated to the brand’s high-performance models and first introduced with the GV60.
A Vision of Performance and Refinement
Sportiness is emphasized not only in the car’s exterior but also in its interior, which features sporty seats set within a meticulously crafted cabin. While the G90 Wingback Concept is, for now, purely a design exercise, Genesis has plans to expand the Magma program in the coming years, creating a diverse lineup that will include multiple body styles.

With the G90 Wingback Concept, Genesis signals a willingness to explore beyond SUVs, offering elegance, performance, and versatility in one ambitious package.
