Geely Auto has officially presented its new global strategy, dubbed “Five by Five”, a comprehensive industrial plan aimed at reinforcing the brand’s international presence while fostering cross-sector technological innovation. The Chinese automaker — a core brand within the expansive Geely Holding Group that owns Volvo, Polestar, Zeekr, Lynk & Co, Lotus, 50% of Smart and 10% of Mercedes — also took the opportunity to unveil the Galaxy Galaxy M9, a premium hybrid SUV designed to embody the company’s ambitious new direction.

The “Five by Five” strategy is structured around five key pillars that span the full spectrum of automotive development: design, research & development, testing, energy solutions, and artificial intelligence. Each pillar is supported by a robust global infrastructure:

  • Five design centers, including hubs in Milan, Shanghai, and Gothenburg. In the Swedish city, the design center will be probably shared with the existing Zeekr-Lynk & Co facility in Lindholmen.
  • Five R&D facilities, spread from Hangzhou to Coventry.
  • Five test regions, comprising 16 operational facilities — including a newly inaugurated testing site in Frankfurt.
  • Five sustainable propulsion lines, ranging from all-electric and hybrid systems to methanol-based powertrains and battery swapping solutions.

These pillars are further strengthened by a suite of smart technologies provided by Geely’s ecosystem partners, including StepStar, SiEngine, and Geespace, all actively engaged in building intelligent mobility systems.

According to Jerry Gan, CEO of Geely Auto Group, this strategic evolution is the natural result of nearly three decades of automotive innovation:

We are building a global infrastructure to support sustainable and technologically advanced growth,” he stated during the presentation.

Introducing the Geely Galaxy M9

As a concrete manifestation of this vision, Geely introduced the Galaxy M9 to European audiences — a six-seat hybrid SUV that reflects the brand’s new premium positioning. Built on the GEA Evo modular platform, the Galaxy M9 offers exceptional interior space, with an internal cabin length of 3.7 meters and a height of 1.3 meters, complemented by eight seat adjustment modes for enhanced comfort.

Under the hood, the M9 features the Thor EM-P Super-Hybrid system, coupled with the AI Cloud 2.0 computing platform, enabling impressive fuel efficiency figures of just 4.8 liters per 100 kilometers. Performance is equally compelling: the SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.

Advanced systems like the AI Digital Chassis and G-Pilot H5 driver assistance suite ensure a balanced and responsive driving experience, creating a seamless interaction between driver and vehicle. The latest generation ADAS system and a five-star safety rating position the Galaxy M9 as a new global benchmark in its segment.

Inside, the cabin reflects Geely’s commitment to smart mobility, with a next-generation AI-powered Smart Cockpit designed to elevate user experience across all driving conditions.
