Danske Slotshoteller is putting food at the centre of the guest experience across its six Danish castle hotels. As part of that push, the company has entered a new partnership with Dagrofa Foodservice, covering both ingredient supply and culinary guidance across its properties.

Danske Slotshoteller castle hotels invest in the full dining experience

The family run company operates six castles and manor houses spread across Denmark, including Vraa Slotshotel in Tylstrup, Sophiendal Slotshotel in Skanderborg, and Sauntehus Slotshotel in Hornbæk. This year, the group is investing significantly in its food offering, with the strategic goal of making gastronomy a much bigger part of a guest’s overall stay.

Hotel manager Line Ranum has framed the ambition around offering guests far more than just a place to sleep, whether they’re visiting for a wedding, a long weekend, a conference or a television production. The stated goal is to lift the quality of every meal served across the day, from breakfast through to a full wedding dinner.

Why Dagrofa Foodservice was chosen as supplier

To help meet those culinary ambitions, Dagrofa Foodservice has been selected as the new food supplier for Danske Slotshoteller. According to Ranum, the search centred on finding a genuinely flexible food partner, one able to handle the sometimes tricky logistics of delivering across the whole country, while also offering the kind of culinary sparring that would let the hotels keep developing their food offering over time. The new partnership began shortly before this year’s peak season, and despite an extremely busy stretch since then, the collaboration is described as off to a strong start.

One of the first shared projects this summer has involved putting together wedding menus for the castles, with a growing number of couples opting for vegetarian or vegan options.

On Dagrofa Foodservice’s side, sales consultant Tina Salomon, who leads the agreement with Danske Slotshoteller, has expressed genuine satisfaction at being brought into the hotel group’s strategic push to elevate its dining experience. She has described the work of helping raise culinary standards across the castle kitchens as a genuinely exciting challenge, one that comes with real expectations around both ingredient quality and the level of advice Dagrofa provides.

Looking ahead to more local ingredients

As autumn approaches and the busy peak season winds down, Danske Slotshoteller and Dagrofa Foodservice plan to jointly explore ways to bring more locally sourced ingredients onto the menus.
