The world premiere of the all-new BMW iX3 Neue Klasse at the Munich Motor Show this September is not distant.

More than just another electric SUV, the iX3 will mark the beginning of a revolutionary chapter for the German automaker—featuring cutting-edge technology, an entirely new design language, and benchmark-setting electric performance.

BMW iX2 Neue Klasse is a revolution

The upcoming iX3 won’t simply be an update to BMW’s electric lineup—it’s a technological manifesto. As the first production model built on the all-new Neue Klasse platform, the iX3 introduces next-generation innovations that will define BMW’s future electric models. The Neue Klasse also debuts a fresh design language that blends heritage with futuristic minimalism, setting the tone for what’s to come across the range.

A notable departure from the oversized kidney grille of recent models, the iX3 opts for a cleaner, more streamlined aesthetic that recalls BMW’s design heritage—yet with a clearly modern execution. Inside, the cabin is packed with digital innovation, most notably the new BMW Panoramic Vision system. This advanced head-up display projects driving information across a slim black strip spanning the base of the windshield, from pillar to pillar.

A large central screen will handle infotainment duties, and overall cabin ergonomics promise to blend luxury and simplicity with high digital integration.

The Neue Klasse Platform

At the heart of the iX3’s transformation is the Neue Klasse EV architecture. The new platform supports BMW’s latest-generation powertrains and cylindrical cell batteries, specifically designed for next-gen electric performance.

These new batteries boast 20% higher energy density compared to the outgoing prismatic-cell packs. Combined with the Neue Klasse’s 800V electrical architecture, the iX3 will support ultra-fast charging up to 400 kW, allowing drivers to recover 350 kilometers of range in just 10 minutes.

Perhaps the most attention-grabbing figure is the expected WLTP range of up to 800 kilometers for the most efficient variant. This makes the iX3 one of the longest-range electric vehicles on the market, pushing boundaries for both daily usability and long-distance travel.

Coexistence with the ICE X3

Despite the iX3’s arrival, the internal combustion version of the X3 will not be retired. Instead, BMW plans to offer both models in parallel, giving customers the freedom to choose between electric and traditional drivetrains—at least for the foreseeable future.
