Nio is cutting prices in Denmark again. Selected stock cars from the Chinese brand now cost up to 100,000 kroner less, while the small Firefly gets a 30,000 kroner reduction. It is the second major price move from Nio this year.

Nio ET5 drops to 264,900 kroner

The headline offer is the Nio ET5, a brand new electric sedan with 490 horsepower, all wheel drive and an electrically swivelling tow bar. The price is now 264,900 kroner, which is 100,000 kroner lower than before.

The ET5 has two motors and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in about four seconds. In the Standard Range version the official range is up to 456 kilometres. Few cars with this level of performance are offered at a comparable price in Denmark today.

Nio EL6 also gets a 100,000 kroner cut

The larger Nio EL6 SUV follows the same pattern. At just under 4.9 metres long, it offers 490 horsepower, all wheel drive and a 579 litre boot. The Standard Range version has an official range of up to 406 kilometres.

With the electrically swivelling tow bar, the price falls from 404,900 to 304,900 kroner.

Firefly gets cheaper too

The compact Firefly is 30,000 kroner cheaper, bringing the smallest model in the range closer to mainstream city car territory.

Battery included, no subscription

The new prices include the battery. Nio previously tried a battery subscription model in Denmark, which was later dropped, and the brand now sells its cars with the battery included.

A brand still searching for Danish buyers

Despite the strong specifications, Nio has struggled to gain traction in Denmark. The ET5 is the best selling model so far, but only 24 examples have been registered. Aggressive pricing on stock cars looks like an attempt to change that, although the offers apply to selected cars in stock and availability is therefore limited.
